Elected to the Co-op Group’s National Members Council

Shaz has been elected to the Co-op Group's National Member's Council

With Co-op fortnight here I thought I’d give an update on my Co-op activities. I’ve been elected to represent Co-op Press on Co-op Group’s National Members Council. Co-op Group are the largest of the food retail societies. I was selected by Co-op Press to stand for Co-op Group’s National Member Council.  I’d like to thank Elaine Dean and Richard Bickle for their help with during the election process and in particular for helping me with my election address.

The National Members Council is the body that holds the organisation to account on co-operative matters from community engagement to diversity and inclusivity. Since being elected I’ve attended quite a few meetings where I’m getting to know more about how Co-op group operates. I’ve done my online introductory module and spoken to my Council buddy. I was excited to learn about the two campaigns that we are currently running on Climate change and inequality, two issues that I care dearly about.

I look forward to learning more about Co-op Group and contributing to the organisation on behalf of Co-op Press.
